UFC 283 ends as 2022 draws to a close.
MMA Mania’s Alex Behunin confirmed today (Tuesday, December 6, 2022) that a bantamweight clash between Cody Stamann (20-5-1) and Luan Luiz Lacerda (12-1) is headed to Rio de Janeiro, Aus. Brazil, for UFC 283. January 21, 2023.
In June 2022, Stamann ended a three-fight losing streak in emphatic fashion, finishing seasoned veteran Eddie Wineland via a 59-second technical knockout (watch highlights). The win earned Stamann his first UFC Performance of the Night bonus since joining in July 2017.
Lacerda will enter the Octagon on a solid 10-fight winning streak with his last two outings coming in Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) and ending in a second-round submission. This will be a big home game for Lacerda on his promotional debut, continuing to fight in Brazil after mostly calling Shooto Brazil his fighting home during this run.
UFC 283 will be the first pay-per-view (PPV) event of the year for the UFC and is expected to be the first show in Brazil since March 2020. With 13 fights in total, expect one or two more additions to the more before 2022 officially comes to an end.
