Conor McGregor is set to fight Michael Chandler after wrapping filming for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 31, but promotion president Dana White recently told combat sports media that the UFC still has “a lot of work to do. ” before putting pen to paper.
So what’s the heist?
“They’re trying to make the fight, but it’s not official now,” lightweight champion Islam Makhachev told ‘Weighing In’ (transcribed by Middle Easy). “I don’t think Conor wants to fight with [Chandler] because he drinks too much, smokes all day and just can’t. TUF does something interesting, because everyone forgets about it. I don’t know when he last fought.
McGregor, who turns 35 in July, has not competed since breaking his leg against longtime rival Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 264 in the summer of 2021. C It was the second straight loss for the “Notorious” forward, who is just 1-3 as a UFC lightweight.
