New York Giants rookie passing thrower Kayvon Thibodeaux arrives after a brief period of adjustment in the NFL. In his last five games, Thibodeaux has three sacks, a forced fumble and a touchdown.
However, not everything was positive. Thibodeaux was criticized for celebrating after being sacked in Week 17. After Thibodeaux defeated Indianapolis Colts quarterback Nick Foles, Thibodeaux began making a fake snow angel next to Foles on the ground. Thibodeaux did this while Foles was writhing on the floor. Foles eventually rode a cart back to the locker room.
Colts coach Jeff Saturday wasn’t happy with the streak, calling Thibodeaux’s celebration “tasteless and garbage.” Thibodeaux responded to that comment on Wednesday, saying he had never heard of Saturday.
The whole sequence was weird. Thibodeaux initially believed the media had reported his celebration to be trash and said people who hadn’t played the game shouldn’t talk about it. After being told Saturday made the comments and that Saturday was a former NFL player, Thibodeaux said he didn’t know Saturday, rendering his review invalid.
Thibodeaux added that no one on the Giants took issue with the celebration. He added that it’s his job to upset the quarterback, but he never wants to hurt other players.
He also said he hope Foles is doing better.
Thibodeaux says he didn’t know Nick Foles was injured
Thibodeaux has repeatedly said he didn’t realize Foles was injured after the hit. Immediately after Sunday’s game, Thibodeaux said he took off once he realized Foles was injured. At the time, he added: “I hope [Foles] better and I hope he’s fine.”
That didn’t stop Saturday from calling Thibodeaux’s celebration “tasteless and garbage.” Saturday took things a step further, saying he was disappointed with the Colts offensive line and wished they had protected theirs.
