The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Boxing Exhibition Tour™ returns to the ring for another “fight” this weekend, taking on a former mixed martial arts (MMA) practitioner and geordie coast star, Aaron Chalmers. This is uncharted territory for Mayweather, 46, who will be contesting his first-ever fight in the UK.
And it’s all happening TODAY (Saturday February 25, 2023) live from the O2 Arena in London, England. Start times for the rest of the map are a bit murky, but Zeus (the streaming service) gets us started at 3 p.m. ET with the main event probably starting around two hours later around 5 p.m. ET.
As we all know, Mayweather’s perfect official record (50-0) hasn’t been touched in years, but he has “competed” in several exhibitions – basically glorified fight matches in which he allows young stars to go as long as he wants. The traveling show most recently saw him carry YouTuber Deji to the sixth round in November 2022 before stepping up the gas and ending it (full results here).
As for Chalmers, the former MMA fighter saw his last cage fight at Bellator 240, losing a decision to Austin Clem. It dropped his Bellator record to 2-2 and his overall MMA record to 5-2. After the Covid lockdown, he moved to the boxing ring, beating professional punching bag Alexander Zeledon, who is winless in his last 21 professional fights over the past three years.
You read correctly.
Still, it’s not about boxing skills, it’s about celebrities of all skill levels training with “Money” Mayweather and moving pay-per-view (PPV) buys. Kudos to all parties for putting this at a very reasonable price of $29.99, by the way.
