Former WBA boxing champion Austin Trout prepares to fight former UFC welterweight bruiser Diego Sanchez at the upcoming BKFC: Bare Knuckle “KnuckleMania 3” event on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New -Mexico.
Trout was closely monitoring the athletic commission’s decision to allow Sanchez to compete (more on that vote here) and understands that ‘The Nightmare’ has taken its fair share of punishment over the years inside the ruthless Octagon. .
That’s why “No Doubt” will be looking for the bullet knockout.
“I was all for New Mexico OGs fighting and we jumped through hoops to be cleared to make sure he’s able to fight,” Trout told Just Scrap Radio. “Nevertheless, he passed all the medicals, so we argue. God willing, we both leave healthy and happy, maybe he’s not so happy but healthier. I’m going to break his ass. He’s too hard for his own good. I’m going to the body, which means I’m going to his body and save him the head trauma.
The head trauma isn’t real, so there’s no need to worry, according to Sanchez.
“I think he’s overconfident, I think he overlooked me watching my strikes in my MMA fights,” Sanchez shot back. “He’s so confident that he thinks no MMA fighter can hold on to him with his hands. He thinks he’s Floyd Mayweather but you’re not Floyd Mayweather, you’re Austin Trout. You’re not the guy who beat Canelo, you’re the guy who got beat by Canelo. You are not who you think you are and you are preparing for a rude awakening.
