Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Paulo Costa only has one fight left on his UFC contract. He made his frustrations with his salary clear, as well as his intentions to move on to greener pastures after that final fight. Although only one game away from freedom, Costa remains picky for his final game.
Five rounds with Robert Whittaker, for example? Costa forwarded that one.
Recently, top middleweight contender Sean Strickland called out “Borrachinha” and, in Strickland’s words, “That makes sense!” Indeed, it seems like a very reasonable and perhaps stylistically favorable matchup for Costa, but the Brazilian doesn’t look thrilled. He responded on Twitter, focusing more on Strickland’s dated wine joke than the actual prospect of fighting ‘Tarzan’.
“Strickland to the bottom of his heart is a nice guy” Costa wrote on Monday. “I just think one of his many issues is that he’s been shot multiple times in the head, and now he’s kind of living with a permanent concussion, making jokes so old he couldn’t think to something updated.”
Instead, Costa has his own ideas. Rather than square off with another Top 10 middleweight, Costa reposted a fan-made UFC 289 poster that pitted him against Nick Diaz, the 39-year-old welterweight who technically didn’t win. fighting since 2011.
The former Strikeforce champion is clearly no longer at the peak of his powers, and he shouldn’t be in the cage with Costa. However, he’s been busy calling Israel Adesanya, so in the unlikely event that the contract comes around, don’t be surprised if the Stockton slugger puts pen to paper.
Insomnia
Max Holloway vs. Arnold Allen absolutely deserves a live audience.
I spoke to Arnold Allen last week.
He hopes for doctor’s clearance in two weeks
If he gets the go-ahead, the Holloway fight will go on April 15, fight night main event, 5 rounds.
Another source told me the plan is for this NOT to be at APEX
deserves a crowd

With the way the welterweight division reserves, Colby Covington vs. Belal Muhammad makes a lot of sense! This is especially true if Khamzat is indeed heading to middleweight.
January has truly been a fiery month for MMA, and I’m grateful for how it ended.
the ufc lost its heavyweight champion. then dana started fighting with slaps and now partnered with logan paul’s drink. Wtf got to this sport.

Fight Ov against Ov!
Sean O’Malley, Merab Dvalishvili and Aljamain Sterling all walk into UFC PI for lunch…Could this be the start of a great friendship?
Slips, tears and KO clips
I don’t know what to call this technique. It looks like a spinning hook kick with a jump added as an afterthought!
HOLY SHIT. Zelimkhan Khatuev just landed one of the craziest knockouts of the year at ACA YE 32
Flying spinning hook kick? What was that? Unbelievable. pic.twitter.com/rtdPE9OqV0
