Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Ciryl Gane is one of the most naturally talented men in MMA.
Gane spent a few years competing in Muay Thai prior to his MMA career, but he didn’t really have extensive combat sports experience. Nonetheless, he was able to return to wrestling and grappling incredibly quickly, rejoining the UFC roster after just three fights on the regional stage. Just two years later, Gane lifted the interim UFC heavyweight title over his head.
His journey from pro debut to UFC title only lasted three years! It’s amazing, even at Heavyweight. Although he missed another generational talent in Francis Ngannou, he has since bounced back and is back in position to fight for the title against the great Jon Jones at UFC 285.
It turns out that Gane may be even more talented than previously thought. While speaking with La Sueur, Gane recently revealed that he only trains with the prospect of fighting in mind, which is pretty crazy considering how quickly he still seems to be improving.
“I love grappling,” Gane said in French (via MMA Junkie). “But unfortunately, I’m lazy, that’s the truth. I only train when a fight is announced. I have a lot of media obligations. Professional opportunities outside of sport. You can’t say no to all of these things. I also have to give time to my family, to rest well.
“If I look at my career, it’s a regret: I only train when a fight is announced,” Gane said. “I had my Tuivasa fight (in September), barely trained since, and now I’m back since the Jones fight was announced.”
Oddly enough, Gane’s opponent may be able to figure it out. Jones had repeatedly admitted to neglecting training at the peak of his powers, including bragging about beating Daniel Cormier “after a weekend of cocaine.” Still, either man’s results can’t be questioned, as both proved they were more than capable of putting in championship-level performances over five rounds.

Will Kevin Lee allow Al Iaquinta to save his career? It’s basically time for a rocky 3 moment!
I’m the only person in the world who can train @MoTownPhenom to be ufc champ…luckily for Khamzat and Leon and the rest of the division I focus on real estate…

Wow, I just found out that Jake Paul would absolutely embarrass Andrew Tate at a boxing match. It’s damn close to Stephen A. Smith caliber mitt work…
Is this Jones side by side as supportive as the original tweet implies? I do not see it.
Jon Jones literally kept his speed for HW.
The video on the left is from 10 years ago, so he’s the fastest. Jon now weighs probably 30 pounds more and has almost the same speed. Gane is in trouble… pic.twitter.com/XVGzqt60zE

Legless Liam Harrison looks like a perfect opponent for Floyd Mayweather’s retirement tour.
Let’s take stock of Diego Sanchez ahead of his boxing match tomorrow, I’m sure he’s been training really hard! Oh wait, he’s in full Satanic Panic mode…
Shavkat Rakhmonov is an absolutely massive welterweight, watch him eclipse Lee and Li Jingliang!
Slips, tears and KO clips
With all due respect I can muster: that was a terrible kick back.
Getting kicked in football by CRO COP seems like a really bad time.
There is real skill in the amateur MMA scene.
