TCU is the only remaining undefeated team in the Big 12.
The No. 13 Horned Frogs came back to beat No. 8 Oklahoma State 43-40 in two overtime Saturday thanks to a short TD run from Kendre Miller after a gutsy run from QB Max Duggan. TCU got the winning score after Oklahoma State had to settle for a 52-yard field goal to start the second overtime and the teams traded touchdowns in the first OT.
TCU scored 14 straight fourth quarter points after Oklahoma State threw a field goal to take a 30-16 third quarter lead.
The Horned Frogs cut the lead to seven with 9:22 to go on a three-yard run from Kendre Miller. After the teams traded punts, TCU went for 94 yards in eight plays to score with 1:57 to tie the game. Oklahoma State went three times on its ensuing possession before TCU could also get a first down before overtime.
TCU’s comeback came as the Oklahoma State offense struggled to do anything in the second half. Oklahoma State had 24 points with over 10 minutes left in the second quarter with a little help from a missed punt by TCU. But the Cowboys could only get two field goals in the second half and TCU’s offense finally took off.
Quentin Johnston had his second straight big game for the Horned Frogs. Johnston had 14 catches for 206 yards a week ago against Kansas and followed that up with eight catches for 180 yards.
