A Reddit user from New York was assured by others online that while his gym habits were unusual, he wasn’t being rude to anyone else for using a treadmill in his building’s gym for four hours a day.
More than 2,000 people responded to his query on Reddit – and he also shared his thoughts with Fox News Digital on the issue.
“AITA for using the treadmill in my building’s gym for 4 hours?” Reddit user “Pr1mrose” asked in a Jan. 27 post on the subreddit known as “Am I the A*****e” (AITA).
“I use the treadmill 4 hours a day (light jogging, it’s not like I’m Usain Bolting that long) from 6am to 10am,” the man explained.

“Meanwhile, the gymnasium is almost empty from 6am to 7:45am and again from 8:30am to 10am,” he wrote.
The user explained that his building has a small gym for residents – with four treadmills, three bikes and three stair/elliptical machines, as well as a space for weight training. The gymnasium is open daily until 10 p.m., he said.
A Reddit user asked others to answer a question: Was it wrong to spend four hours a day on a treadmill in his building’s gym?

The four treadmills are rarely busy at the same time, Pr1mrose said, adding that it was “maybe 15 minutes every other day”.
He also wrote: “I did a test today and for the whole four hours there was at least one treadmill free, and I was alone for over three hours of running. There are a lot of days [when] capacity isn’t impacted at all, and on the days it is, it’s a very limited time slot.”
The man was told that the new rule “comes from management”.
Building management, however, decided there should be a 45-minute maximum use period for cardio machines and emailed all residents of the building.

At the time, the other three treadmills were empty – and Pr1mrose was told the rule “comes from management”.

One Reddit user noted that the four treadmills in his building’s gym are rarely busy during his workouts — and most of the time he’s alone.

A doorman came later and told her there was a 45 minute limit on the cardio machines.
Pr1mrose wrote that this rule was not printed anywhere in the gym and was not the previous policy.
“I really don’t understand, but, Reddit, did I miss something and am I actually the asshole?” the user asked others.

“I fully agree and accept that on the very rare occasion that all four treadmills are taken, I will walk down in case people pass by, see them all in use and leave,” he said. he writes.
