Righties peddle anti-vax BS about MSNBC host’s health

adminJanuary 31, 2023

Weeks after blaming NFL safety Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest on COVID-19 vaccines, right-wing media personalities decided to form their latest anti-vaxx conspiracy theories on an MSNBC anchor who just return to work following a health alert.

After being ‘out of service’ for a month, Yasmin Vossoughian returned to the air this weekend and informed MSNBC viewers that she suffered from myocarditis after battling a cold, which left her resulted in a long hospital stay.

The 44-year-old host, who said she runs regularly and maintains a healthy lifestyle, described the “nightmare” of dealing with inflammation around her heart, brought on by “a literal cold”.

On the Jan. 28 show, Vossoughian interviewed his cardiologist, Dr. Greg Katz, who went into more detail about the causes of myocarditis and how the rare disease can develop from a viral illness. benign. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, concerns about myocarditis and pericarditis have increased, especially in younger patients.

“Myocarditis is rare, but when it occurs it is most often caused by an infection in the body. Infections with viruses (the most common, including those that cause colds, flu, or COVID-19), bacteria, fungi, or parasites can lead to myocardial inflammation,” according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Nonetheless, anti-vaxxers and right-wing media figures immediately pounced on Vossoughian’s case to suggest she had fallen ill from the vaccine.

“The fully healthy MSNBC host, who received all of her vaccinations despite being given zero risk by covid, tells MSNBC viewers that she has contracted a very serious case of myocarditis from a cold “said conservative radio host Clay Travis. tweeted tuesday.

Travis, who sold his right-wing sports website Outkick to Fox in 2021, has long been a leading figure in the COVID truth movement. Unsurprisingly, he also helped lead the misinformation campaign by baselessly claiming that Hamlin’s on-court meltdown was linked to COVID vaccines.

Fox News commentator Lisa Marie Boothe who lost a possible co-hosted gig View because she refused to be vaccinated, responded to Travis: “We know what’s going on.”

Self-proclaimed “classic liberal” podcaster Dave Rubin, who is repeatedly vaunted of being unvaccinated in his never-ending quest for MAGA acceptance, claimed that Vossoughian deliberately lied about his condition to push a narrative.

“Absolutely amazing. Vaxxed MSNBC host now has myocarditis, but blame it on the common cold,” he said. wrote on Twitter. “I wish him well, but this is really insane gaslighting.”

Other social media influencers who has amassed tens of thousands of subscribers peddling fearmongering and vaccine misinformation also jumped at the chance to poke fun at the MSNBC host, suggesting she was in the pocket of Big Pharma.

“MSNBC host Yasmin Vossoughian develops myocarditis and blames it on cold,” far-right account The Dirty Truth tweeted. “Do you think @yasminv is really that stupid or is she just dedicated to MSNBC sponsor Pfizer?”

Former World Series champion turned unhinged conspirator Aubrey Huff has suggested the MSNBC host’s myocarditis is proof of a coming apocalypse for the vaccinated.

“I believe that in 3 to 5 years, people who took the poison will be gone or will be bedridden with a cold,” Huff said. “I’m not saying this to be mean…but the elites don’t hide the fact that they want population control. And what better than a shot that kills slowly.

MSNBC and representatives for Vossoughian did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Anti-vaxxers have long ignored the fact that a small number of myocarditis cases have been reported after COVID-19 mRNA vaccinations. For over a year now, the anti-vaccine community – using the hashtag #DiedSuddenly – has tried to link the deaths of young athletes (or just about anyone) to the shootings – despite the fact that it doesn’t there is no wave of athletes dying.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, however, noted that vaccines are a very rare cause of this heart disease.

“Data from multiple studies show a rare risk of myocarditis and/or pericarditis after receiving COVID-19 mRNA vaccines,” according to the CDC’s website. “These rare cases of myocarditis or pericarditis most commonly occurred in adolescent and young adult males, ages 16 and older, within 7 days of receiving the second dose of a COVID mRNA vaccine -19 (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna).”

And the American Heart Association conducted an extensive study last year that found that COVID-19 infections carry a much higher risk of myocarditis than vaccinations.

Of course, none of this ever stopped the anti-vaxx machine from turning.
