Steph was hilariously conflicted over D-Lee’s big match against Dubs originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Steph Curry is one of Damion Lee’s biggest supporters. However, the Warriors star wishes his former teammate hadn’t gone for 22 points in the Phoenix Suns’ 125-113 win over Golden State on Tuesday night at Chase Center.
Lee did most of his damage against the Warriors from the free throw line with 14-for-14. The 30-year-old’s performance left Curry conflicted after the game.
“He played extremely well,” Curry said. “I don’t like seeing him at all. I once cheered him on in his Phoenix debut at home when he hit the winner. So I’ve done enough cheerleading for D-Lee.
“I’m proud of him, the way he’s played all year and everyone he’s spoken to in the Suns organization speaks so highly of who he is as a person, who he is. is as a player, from what he does for a locker room and again, how he played on the pitch. He shoots the ball at an extremely high level. So you hate to see him against our team.
Lee spent four seasons with the Warriors, winning the 2022 NBA Finals. Now the veteran guard has brought his championship experience to the Suns. Phoenix is trying to get back to the NBA Finals after losing in 2021 and Lee knows what it takes to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
“[Lee] knows how to play the game,” Suns star Devin Booker said in October. He knows how to play the right way. Big ups to Golden State — they have this culture; they have this environment. You can see that it’s instilled in him. That’s how they did so well.

While the Warriors put Lee in big-game situations to gain experience and thrive under pressure, Golden State, like Curry, might have wished his performance hadn’t happened against them.
