Another year of mixed martial arts (MMA) action is entering the books.
2022 will go down in combat sports history for several reasons. For one thing, there were a bizarre amount of main events that either ended in injury or undone in tragedy during the final build-up. Thankfully, it was also the year the UFC began to travel beyond its UFC Apex confines once again, crossing the sea for major events in Paris and London. This may indicate a bigger change, and 2022 will diminish as last year the majority of events took place in Las Vegas (although that remains to be seen).
As usual, there have been incredible submissions, mind-blowing upsets and wild back-and-forth wars over the past 12 months. Yet, as the year draws to a close, which stories have generated the most traffic on MMAmania.com amid the chaos?
Let’s take a look at the first batch (#6 to #10)…

Number 10: Floyd Mayweather hit with ’embarrassing’ lawsuit after failing to pay Logan Paul
Writer: jesse holland
Summary: Floyd Mayweather owes Logan Paul between $5 million and $10 million according to Jake Paul.
Why it exploded: Last year’s theme for the Top 10 was Conor McGregor. This year, however, the Paul brothers are the most frequent subjects. Floyd Mayweather also remains a massive star even after more than five years of retirement, so it’s only natural that an outrageous title involving all three is sure to be a home run. I haven’t heard an update on the lawsuit yet, but that might be a headline for 2023.

Number nine: ‘Fat’ Jake Paul announces move to heavyweight after Anderson Silva fight, calls out Tyson Fury
Writer: jesse holland
Summary: Jake Paul bloated his belly and continued to talk trash with the Fury family.
Why it exploded: Do you remember what I just said about the Paul brothers? Here comes Jake again! This time, Paul was only days away from his fight against Anderson Silva, arguably the highest profile fight of his career to date. Then “The Problem Child” links up with heavyweight king Tyson Fury, and what do you know, people are interested! The social media star knows how to get attention.

Number eight: Joe Rogan, Dave Chappelle Removed From Their Seats During Canelo-GGG 3 In Favor Of Travis Scott
Writer: jesse holland
Summary: Joe Rogan and Dave Chappelle moved from third to first
Why it exploded: I think it’s fair to assume that most fight fans view Rogan and Chappelle more favorably than Houston hip-hop star Travis Scott. I guess the title alone probably led many outraged fans to the article, where much like Rogan and Chappelle themselves, they were pleasantly surprised to find out that the comedy duo actually got an upgrade! Of course, it also helps that Canelo vs. GG 3 was a major event, even if it didn’t quite hit the heights of their first two battles.

Number seven: UFC star Sean O’Malley just had stem cells injected into his sausage
Writer: jesse holland
Summary: Sean O’Malley recounts his experience with, uh, male enhancement.
Why it exploded: I don’t know how it is possible to read this title and not laugh. O’Malley is a proud sexual deviant and revels in attention, so why wouldn’t the colorful No. 1 bantamweight contender inject enlargement stem cells into his dong? Like Paul, O’Malley knows how to stay in the news even without a fight booked.

Number six: Jake Paul’s ‘private’ drug test results leaked by foreign media
Writer: jesse holland
Summary: Jake Paul tests clean, but the public wasn’t supposed to know
Why it exploded: Similar to the Rogan and Chappelle incident above, this one seems extremely controversial. While the Florida Athletic Commission did allow drug test results to be leaked, neither Paul nor Tyron Woodley performed poorly. Paul’s haters didn’t know about it, so surely there was a rush of traffic hoping to catch Paul peeing. Maybe next time!
