Fight fans were able to witness one of the boniest moves in recent memory Friday night (January 27, 2023) at BKFC 35 from inside the John T. Rhodes Sports Center in Myrtle Beach, SC, when a fighter celebrated a win to find out. he was already disqualified.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran Tomar Washington made his Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) debut on Friday in an undercard match against Willie Sears. Washington had a noticeable power advantage and ended up knocking Sears to the canvas in the second round. However, as Sears fell to one knee, Washington connected with a right hand deemed illegal by the ref. The fight was stopped, but Washington thought they had won by knockout.
Unfortunately for Washington, the referee planned to disqualify him for illegally hitting a downed opponent. Worse, Washington didn’t know he was disqualified until the referee read the decision out loud in the center of the ring. It was then that Washington knew he had made a stupid mistake and walked away in disgust.
